About this project

There is a dearth of consistent, standardised, open procurement data across the procurement life cycle i.e. tender, award, contract and implementation. This inconsistent data landscape makes monitoring challenging, which is in turn undermined by insufficient available skills for the monitoring (and interpretation) of the data that can render procurement accountable.

OpenUp wants to leverage the tool Keep The Receipts and teach data skills to inform citizens of public procurement in South Africa. The impact this project aims to do is educate citizens/journalists/administrators about public procurement, its shortfalls and how to use data.

The implementation process:

  • Have three (3) workshops that will have Civil Society Organisations, Journalists and Administrators who work with Procurement Data.
  • Provide Training material that participants can go through.
  • Website for Online Training.
  • Updating of Keep the Receipts tool.

Users are provided with free training on public procurement and various tips and tricks to incorporate into their workflow.
